Obituary of Verna Meredith

MEREDITH: Verna M. A longtime resident of Chatham Township, Verna Meredith died peacefully at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Wednesday July 6, 2011. Born in Chatham Township 89 years ago on October 20, 1921, daughter of the late Daniel & Ada Cook. Beloved wife of the late Oliver H. Meredith (1996). Loving mother of Lyle Meredith & Carolyn Walker of Harwich, Sandra Bean & Ralph of Wellesley, Daniel Meredith & Marg of Chatham Township, Dianne Libby & Boyce of Blenheim, Susan Stewart & Gary of Dresden, Wendy Dusten & Roy of Erie Beach, Allon Meredith & Tanya of Chatham, and the late Brian Meredith (2004). Cherished grandmother of 15, great grandmother of 10 and predeceased by her grandson James Derek (1977) and great grandson Campbell (2010). Dear sister of Grace Easter of Sarnia, and her late brother Roy Cook, sister Florence Martine, and twin sister Vera Easter. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Verna was a member of the Kent Bridge Women’s Institute for many years, an avid euchre player, and an astute “solver” of crossword puzzles. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Saturday July 9, 2011 from 3:00-5:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date in Arnold Cemetery, Chatham Township.
