Obituary of Kenneth William Dewar

DEWAR: Kenneth William, Surrounded by his family, Kenneth W. Dewar has returned to his wife Thelma (Hume) (1998) on September 28, 2012. He will be reunited with his parents William and Florence Dewar (Gordon), his son Bill Dewar (1995), daughter-in-law Brenda Dewar (1995), and brothers Gordon Dewar (1944) and Jimmy Dewar (1992). He is survived by his children Gord (Jane) Dewar of Bothwell, Ann (Ted) Schwagar of Belleville, Kevin (Denise) Dewar of Windsor, Cathy (Danny) Smith of Chatham, and daughter-in-law Margaret (Greg) Mazzali of Stoney Point. Fondly remembered by 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Kenneth leaves behind siblings Stewart Dewar, Athol Dewar, Margaret (Buddy) Fraser, and sister-in-law Jean (Preston) MacDonald all of P.E.I. Ken was a member of many organizations, some of them including R.C.A.F.A. – Wing 411, Legion Branch 28, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, and Air Cadet 294 Squadron. Ken was a veteran of WWII where he proudly served in the R.C.A.F. He then continued his career at Canadian Filter/Siemens. Many thanks to Scott for the love and dedication he provided throughout Grandpa’s later years. We would like to thank the staff at Riverview Gardens for making Ken part of their family. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Sunday, September 30 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted at the Sprucedale United Church, 493 Victoria Ave, Chatham on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ken to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
