Ronald Beavis

Obituary of Ronald Beavis

Born Peterborough, May 25, 1928 - Died Blenheim, September 13, 2024

Ron was born and raised in Peterborough and lived there until his early forties when he and his
wife, Lynne Beavis moved to Ridgetown. He was previously married to Noreen Nelson
(deceased 2016) and together they had four children: David (Gene), Robert (Jay Hall-Wood),
Merie-Anne and Jennifer. His three step-children are Laurel Lukasik (deceased 2003),
Christopher Lukasik and Sstorammie Harlingten.

Between them Ron and Lynne have: five grandchildren (Rainne Wilson, Alex Beavis, Kathleen
Beavis, Ashlea Harlingten and Nick Hall-Wood (Missy Alexopoulos)), two great grandchildren
(Michael Awram (Chelsey Jeffery) and Megan Awram), and four great-great grandchildren
(Michael Awram, Alisynn Awram, Reilee Awram and Layla Deline).

Ron was the eldest of four brothers who pre-deceased him: Allan (Lois), Gerry (Dolly) and Wally
(Wanda). He was the uncle of five nieces and three nephews.

As a young man Ron had many different occupations, including being a horse and buggy driving
milk man and a shoe salesman. Working part-time as a bartender led Ron to being intrigued by
the bar business. In 1972, Ron and Lynne bought the Arlington Hotel in Ridgetown and ran the
bar and restaurant there. In the late 1970s when disco music was the trend, they turned the bar
into a disco and had a lot of success.

In 1976 they decided to start a new business, (better hours he’d say!) and together Ron and
Lynne opened a Dixie Lee Chicken franchise. At one point, in addition to the store in Ridgetown
they had 3 others in the area.

Ron was incredibly involved in the Ridgetown community. He was President of the Ridgetown
Kiwanis Club twice and coached local hockey teams.

He loved horses, cowboy stories, golfing and fishing. Vacationing in Florida in the winters gave
him the chance to watch the Blue Jays in spring training in Dunedin.

Ron was always pretty easy going and according to Lynne, in over fifty years they never had an
argument! He loved his big family and they loved him very much.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staff of The Blenheim
Community Village for all their care of Ron.
