Obituary of Ed Brooks

Brooks: Edward Duncan -

A resident of Chatham, passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation on October 6, 2024 at the age of 81.

Born in Dunnville, Ed was the son of the late Mike and Greta (Duncan) Brooks.

Loving husband of 41 years to Rita (Emery).

Proud father of Raymond Trahan and Lisa Trahan (Jason Baresich).

Cherished Pepere of Tanner Trahan. He will always be remembered for his loving and patient ways to pass on as much of his knowledge as possible to his grandson and everyone.

Dear brother of Maxine Stevens (Don), John Brooks (Ardele) and Jayne Brooks.

Brother-in-law to Ernie Boulley (Diane).

Predeceased by his parents Mike and Greta (Duncan) Brooks.

He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews.

Ed helped many people with building projects, especially decks. He spent his engineering career of 32 years at Union Gas Limited and spent his last 15 years wintering in Florida. He was an athlete of many sports, but especially enjoyed golfing. Travelling around the world was also a passion of his.

A special thank you to the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre and his oncologist Dr R. Fernandez from the London Health Sciences Centre. Also, thank you to Dr Z. Milkovic and his nurse staff. He received excellent care in his last few weeks at the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.

Family and friends are invited to McKinlay Funeral Home at 459 St. Clair St, Chatham on October 11, 2024. There will be a visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. In keeping with Ed's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family interment to take place at St. Phillippe Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
