Obituary of Jack Shillington

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Shillington on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice at the age of 86. 

Born in Chatham, the youngest son of the late Harold & Rowena (nee McColl) Shillington. 

Beloved husband of 67 years to Elaine (nee Goodison) Shillington. 

Loving dad to Jerry (Jeannie), Joanne Pratt (Kevin) & Jim (Dodi). 

Cherished grandpa to Nathan Pastor, Jena Atwell (Adam), Jason Hoffman (Chris McKenna), Brandon Pratt (Amanda) & Jordan Shillington (Tayler). 

Great-grandpa to Klayton & Tara Atwell, Sawyer, Eli & Quinn Hoffman, Isla Pratt, & Gabriella Pastor. 

Predeceased by grand-daughter, Tara Shillington and great-grandson, Oakland Shillington. 

Predeceased by brothers, Don & Bill, and sister-in-law Marg Shillington. 

Survived by brother-in-law, Bev Goodison & his wife Pat. 

He will be missed by his nieces, nephews & good friends. 

Jack was known for his unwavering kindness, always putting others before himself and leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. 

Jack was a dedicated employee for 34 years of the Public General Hospital (PGH). During his last 10 years, he was a much loved and respected CEO at the hospital. 

He enjoyed many years of curling and golf in Blenheim, where he met and made many lifetime friends. 

He was a Past President and proud member of the Chatham Rotary Club. 

Jack enjoyed many years of retirement and loved to cruise and travel with Elaine, He will be incredibly missed. 

Cremation has taken place with a Private Family Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim to be held at a later date. 

The family wish to extend a special thank you to the staff and volunteers at St. Andrew's Residence and the Chatham-Kent Hospice for all of their care and compassion. 

In Jack's honour, donations may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
