Obituary of Eleonora Eugenie Mieras

A resident of Chatham, Eleonora Mieras passed away at the Chatham Retirement Resort on Thursday, October 10. 2024 at the age of 89.

She was the daughter of the late Maurice & Mary (nee Van Leirsberge) Neutens.

Eleonora will be lovingly reunited back into the arms of her late husband, Jake Mieras (2019).

Forever missed by her children, Jan Mieras (Janet), & Carol Ann Mieras.

Grandma of Khyrsten Mieras, Kelsy Mieras (Keith Tanner), Karl Oczkowski (Rana Pishva), Kelly Oczkowski (Jeff Clark) and Jakob Mieras.

Great-grandma of Daphne Oczkowski, Loic Pishva & Finnley Clark-Oczkowski.

Sister of Jim Neutens (Mary), sister-in-law of Peg Neutens, & Sjaan Leeuwenburg.

Predeceased by brother, Henry Neutens.

Born and raised in Ridgetown, Eleonora and Jake raised their family within Chatham. She enjoyed her time working as an Operator for Bell Canada prior to having children. Eleonora loved to bake, read, knit and enjoyed socializing with neighbours and friends in the community. In her younger years, she enjoyed her time working with children within various nursery schools. Jake & Eleonora traveled throughout the Netherlands and Europe and in their later years, enjoying the occasional cruise too. She was an avid volunteer with CHAP, and the Canadian Cancer Society. Always a host, she enjoyed hosting holiday dinners and family reunions. Eleonora will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Chatham Retirement Resort for their compassionate care to mom over years.

Family to receive friends on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 10:00 am until a Celebration of Nora's life at 11:30 am. Cremation has taken place.

In memory of Eleonora, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
