Obituary of Reg MacDonald

It is with heavy hearts we share the news of Reg MacDonald's passing. On the evening of October 27th, 2024 Reg passed away peacefully with his precious wife Kathie of 57 years by his side.

Born in Chatham on February 29th, 1948. Reg is predeceased by his daughter Honey in 1988 at age 14, his father Reg MacDonald and mother Jackie (nee Kendall), sisters Darlene (John) Foran, Marie (Ken) Gilhula, and nephew Brock MacDonald.

Reg is survived by his brothers Dale (Karen) and Sandy. Brother-in-law Robert (Roberta) Riegling, his beloved niece Ronda and her husband Bobby McLemore their children (Reg’s Besties) Tala and Zayden. Niece Robin Thomas and her children Craig, Anna, Allison (Josh), Julie (Noah) and Blake. Niece Stacie MacDonald, Nephew Shawn (Sheri) Gilhula, niece Robin Horar, niece Shannon Gilhula, nephew Chad Foran, and extended family.

Reg was the founder and owner of Honey Electric Limited for almost 50 years, he was a leader in the electrical industry.

Reg was very active in the community and beyond. Volunteering his time on numerous boards and organizations over the years.

Reg was a patient man and was a great mentor to everyone he met. If you knew him he left an great impact on your life.

Reg was a family man and had a zest for life and knowledge. He loved to travel the world making friends wherever he went due to his inviting personality. Reg was charismatic and could capture an audience with his infectious positivity. He knew how to live in the moment.

Reg was very generous and would donate anonymously and was known to help strangers in need.

If you were a friend or colleague you were family to Reg.

Reg will be greatly missed by many but never forgotten.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice or The Children’s Treatment Centre. These are organizations that Reg felt strongly about.

 

Please join the family for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at The Links of Kent, 120 Indian Creek Road West, Chatham, ON N7M 2E2.  There will be a funeral procession leaving from Honey Electric, 400 Park Ave. W, Chatham to The Links of Kent leaving approximately at 10:00 am.
